My first attempts at serious photography started when a friend began a model railway magazine in the early 1990’s called Narrow Gauge Downunder and asked if I would take photos for articles. I bought an old second-hand Nikon FE model and a couple of lens together with some light bowls, globes, filters and stands. Without any real understanding of how to photograph static model trains indoors and often under difficult conditions, away I went and had to learn on the job. The magazine proved quite successful and was sold after 10 years and 20 issues. My interest in photography was re-kindled in recent times after attending courses run by Des Berwick in Aldgate. I now have a Canon 600D and am coming to grips with the both the technical and artistic challenges that the hobby presents.
